Possible new base for courses and squads in Exeter

This circular is being sent to all Boxing Contacts in the South West and is particularly pertinent to those who operate in:
Devon,
Cornwall and Dorset
There is now an opportunity to establish a “Boxing Centre” on the Campus of St Luke’s College, Exeter University.
The Centre could provide:
Recreational boxing opportunities for Exeter University Students
Recreational boxing opportunities for the wider community in and around Exeter
A focal point for:
Regional squad training for the South of our massive South West geographic area
An education centre to deliver boxing to potential teachers
An education centre for the delivery of ABA Tutor Awards, Coach Education Courses etc
A centre for the development and coordination of school-club link programmes.
A possible venue for Exeter Boxing Clubs.

Steve Brooks, our Regional Association Secretary and I will be in attendance together with Bill Hart the St Luke’s College Sports Officer: Kevin Hay, our Regional Coach will also be coming up from Plymouth to review the facilities and the potential to develop a strong presence in Exeter.

3.00pm – 5.00pm on Thursday 16th May

We have some great opportunities to develop both competitive and recreational boxing in the Southern part of the Western Counties. In particular, Stuart Lord, the OCRA Activity Development Manager, at the Okehampton Community College is anxious to form a School-Club contact as soon as possible. This would be along the lines of the very successful link established by Gary Cave in Bristol in the last couple of months.
Boxing Clubs can extend their programmes into some of the schools and we could put together the outline at this meeting.
Steve and I look forward to meeting with clubs, friends, and new contacts to promote some rapid development “in the South”.
